    Summary:
On November 19, 1863, near the end of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln delivered the famous Gettysburg Address at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The speech was well received by many and its significance was immediately recognized. Beginning with the now iconic phrase "Four score and seven years ago," Lincoln used this speech to emphasize the founding principles of the United States and bolster the confidence of the American people in their representative democracy. This story includes re-enactments and photographs from the war as well as a reading of one of America's most famous speeches.
